Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Two Video Cards, Gnome Debian

hey,

I have debian installed, I have a ATI AGP video card (radeon?) that works fine, I plugged in an old PCI card so I could have a second screen.

How do I configure my new card automatically?

I would rather not spend the afternoon rewriting conf files...

Thanks,

David

You would most likely have to rewrite your /etc/X11/XF86Config(-4). It is not very hard - you would have to enter a "Device" section for your new PCI video card, a new "Monitor" section and edit the "ServerLayout" section. There are several howtos out there, but I don't think you will find a utility that will automatically configure your two-card setup.

After writting the post I did it by hand because I had other things to do. I was hoping that the next time there would be an automated program to do it for me...
