two hard drives acting seemlessly as one: possible?

Hi,

Does anyone happen to know how to make two physically different hard drives act seemlessly as one to software?

For example, is it possible for /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1 to both contribute their space to / (root)?

Thanks,
-Dan

LVM and/or RAID
Or any other RAID:

Anyway, I think you get the hint ;)
