two d-link cards on comp

i'm trying to connect another comp to mine. each already have one card. when i added the 2nd one to mine, it stopped detecting my original card (both dfe 538 tx cards). on one of the slots, the card hung the comp. got an asus mb, via kt 133. doesn't detect either cards even in windows. is there some procedure to follow?
