TV tuner bizarre yet silly problem Mandrake 10.1

i have used this exact tvcard for 4 years including last 7 months on Linux Mandrake
TVcard tested still works in other computer

um i recently replaced the mainboard (ecs k7S5A) with an ASUS A7S8X mainboard
booted Mandrake 10.1 as normal and my PCI TVcard worked fine in tvtime

but decided to reinstall Mandrake 10.1 Official from scratch anyway.

during install setup TVcard details as per usual

when i get to KDE

tvtime spits up
cannot find /dev/video

Hardrake reports tvcard is fully installed
Vendor: ‎Brooktree Corp.

PCI device #: ‎9

PCI function #: ‎0

Vendor ID: ‎4254

Device ID: ‎878

Sub vendor ID: ‎65535

Sub device ID: ‎65535

Module: ‎bttv

i have tried to config with xawtv many times also
MCC "KDE>System>Configuration>ConfigureyourComputer"

follow the prompts
card model "pixelview 878 rev 4c"
tuner "philips 1246 PAL-I"

and i get this error message
Session "Scanning for TV channels" has exited .. Status 1"
kdetv no video device found

as last resort i have reinstalled mandrake literaly 7 times including linux from scratch

any ideas whats wrong?

I'm having the same problem, I'm currently trying to go through the kernel configuration for bttv so let me know if you figure it out, and I'll do the same if I figure it out ok.

I installed and Nvidia opengl graphics drivers,

Note i don't have and Nvidia Card installed :S
Onboard SIS 300
maybe some sort of overlay/Opengl software is required.i guess.
