TV card not reconised

HI guys
I managed to get my pixelview TV card to work with xawtv almost.I have an issue with trying to record. If I select no audio I can record ok. The audio im taking in to the audio card on the pc but if I select audio in the record option on xawtv I just get an error. I tried looking for the TV card in other programs ( Kmplayer and VCL ) but they all cannot find a v4l video device. Any ideas where I should start looking. I have Mepis8 as the os

The xawtv man page shows an option to set the audio device.

Code:

-C, -dspdev device 
set audio device (default is /dev/dsp).
Resource: xawtv.dspdev (string).

Have you tried that?
