Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Turtle Beach USB MIDI detection/installation

Hi all,

I am a Linux newbie, and I am trying to get my Turtle Beach USB MIDI work.

I have no idea what to do to let Debian testing detect the USB MIDI thing (it's a blue USB cable).

When I plug the USB cable dmesg says:
[...]
usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
HID device not claimed by input or hiddev
usbcore: registered new driver snd-usb-audio

usbview says (UHCI Host Controller):Turtle Beach USB MIDI 1x1

But I don't know how to set up the MIDI with alsa (correct?) in order to use the USB MIDI cable with rosegarden.

alsaconfig only detects the Intel Sound card.

Is there any tutorial I might use to install the USB MIDI Cable with ease and possibly use it with rosegarden?

Is there anything else you guys need to know to help me out?

I have a ThinkPad G41, Debian Testing with kernel2.6.15-1-686-smp (not custom).

Thanks in advance!
Gio :-)
