Turtle Beach Santa Cruz & Fedora Core 4

There's a problem when installing Fedora Core 4 when your soundcard is a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. It appears that everything should be working fine, except no sound comes out of the speaker. After searching for a couple hours, I finally found someone else who had the problem. I'm posting the solution here so hopefully it will be easier to find for others.

The only problem is in the sound card settings. Using either alsamixer from a terminal or the gnome or kde volume control, set external amp to on, and turn the DAC all the way up. It's that simple.

Thank you!!! I have searched everywhere and even tried to see if my device driver was somehow blacklisted. All no go!

And now! woo-hoo! Sound!

Full Potential

For me, it isn't a matter of getting it to work or not, it's a matter of exploiting it's full potential. This particular card has the ability for 4 channel sound, yet I can only get it to run the front channels, and only if the external amplifier is checked. Anybody know how I can exploit the cards potential?
