Tuner settings for FlyVideo 3000 on SuSE 10.0?
Hello guys!
I've been trying out SuSE Linux 10.0 X86-64 and the only problem I'm having is with the LifeView FlyVIDEO 3000 (FlyTV Prime 34 FM) TV card. All I get is a black screen and I can't find any TV channels. The card uses a Philips SAA7134 chipset, and is installed on the system as a SAA7134 Video Broadcast Decoder. I think the problem is that it can't find the correct tuner. I tried many different things like manually selecting the FlyVideo 3000 card, changing expert settings (tried card=2 tuner=5), but as I'm a great noob in Linux, I failed to succeed.
Is there anyone out there with this card?
(BTW I think the tuner is a Philips PAL_B or something, it works like that under WinXP)

You have to do trial and error for the tuner. Look at "/usr/src/linux-`uname -r`/Documentation/video4linux/CARDLIST.tuner". While going through the list of tuners, make sure you do modprobe -r saa7134 tuner videodev to remove the modules. If a tuner works, add "options saa7134 card=2 tuner=X" in either /etc/modules.conf or /etc/modprobe.conf. For the X value place the tuner number there.
My LifeView FlyVideo 3000 is tuner number 17 because it is an NTSC version.

options saa7134 card=2 tuner=1
Added this line into:
/etc/modprobe.conf.local
And by luck it worked at first try! Thanks a lot for the help!
BTW I use KDETV and:
If I select XVideo: video4linux (port 270), everything works correctly.
But when I select Video4Linux: LifeView FlyVIDEO3000, I get the following error:
Code:
Unable to grab video.
Video display is not possible with the current plugin configuration. Try playing with the configuration options of the V4L plugin.
I get no video but I can hear sounds.
I don't know whats the difference between XVideo and the other one though. Maybe I didn't choose the correct tuner? Or is it a general issue? Anyways I'm happy that it works now.
