Trying to uninstall Ubuntu on iMac G3, but getting bootr, unkown command Failed to bo
I got this Apple iMac g3 (one of those 2, 3 step process macs. The bubbles) and I installed Ubuntu Linux 5.04. Now I would like to install Mac OSX on it. When I went in with the OSX disk, it went just fine until it couldn't find the hard drive. I reseted, went into ubuntu, and tried to erase the partitions with fdisk. I didn't erase the first two "apple" partitions since that seems to be something I shouldn't touch. then, I restarted again, when the mac booted, it showed this error.
bootr, uknown word Failed to boot Apple iMac Open Firmware 3.0 f 10 built on 03/05/99 at (some time << I put that in) Copyright 1994-1998 Apple Computer, Inc. ok 0 > _ I can type boot, and it'll go to what I think is the boot loader for Ubuntu. It has two options: l for linux, and c for cdrom. Well cdrom doesn't work, it just says some jiberish and just goes back to the "0 > _". If I type l it boots linux, but it has problems. I have absolutely no idea what else to say that would be of any significance to the mac and mac/linux users. If someone can help me through this problem and tell me what I am going through and what steps to take to fix it, I would be gratefull. |
