Trying to replace HDD in Sony Vaio N320E
 

Hello,

I am trying to replace my harddrive and so far have not had any luck. I cannot figure out how to remove the factory drive. I cannot for the life of me get the whole drive exposed. I have gotten the keyboard off, and discounted the mouse and keboard. The next step that I can't seem to get is removing the top panel. I get most of the clasps un-snapped, but in the rear (near the LCD) something won't let loose. I got to the screw underneath the keyboard, but it feels like there is something else I am not doing.

Any advice is welcome!

I put that model into the Sony knowledgebase (http://esupport.sony.com/), but wasn't able to find it. If it's a laptop, there's usually a single panel on the bottom to expose the whole drive.

And out of curiosity, how is this a Linux issue?

It's not a linux issue. I have done everything I can to find all the screws to expose the drive, but so far I haven't been able to remove it completely. I can get the keyboard up, and lift the plastic base most of the way off, but it is still held back by the LCD. I have one screw I cannot get to the final screw holding the drive in place- no special bay unfortunately.

Any thing else would be a great help.

With VAIO's some screws can be hidden behind covers or scratch guards but even then there'll be some ribbon attached to the keyboard and other panel for power and other buttons. Maybe uploading some photo's of the dissected victim might help.
