trying to install linux mint on MSI X570 mobo.
I had a similiar issue to others, New build, AMD Ryzen 3700 processor, MSI X570-Pro mobo, EVEA modular power supply, SSD hard drive for OS's and spinner hard drive - for data, all SATA 3 connected.. Able to install Linux Mint 19.1, from DVD no problem, but agreed to download and install upgrades, stopped pc from working on rebooting, would get load of text, some parts of processor memtioned but commonly found was ACHI mentioned. Mobo firmware updated, made no difference. If I left pc it would load up to linux Icon, the round one, stay there for a while and reboot and go through the process again. At one point tried to reinstall Linux Mint 18 from DVD,,just not recognised. I thought it was a power issue - Mobo has 24 pin connector plus an 8 and 4 pin power connector for CPU. Did not have a 4 pin connector, which I though may have been the problem. Searched through on-line forums and found many people reporting the same non starting issue as me. Decided to look through MOBO manual, saw entry for SATA drives, said sata ports 1-2 powered by Someone and Sata ports 3-6 powered via X570 chipset. with heart in mouth, swapped sata cables over, pressed the start button and voila!! booted perfectly. Was able to do new instal of Linix Mint 19.3, re booted 3 times, with no issue and even updated OS with no issue. So the moral of this story is RTFM - read the manual, there may be something there that may give a clue why a MOBO wont let a PC boot up. best of luck fellow builders.
