trying to improve video playback on intel gm965 with ubuntu ibex 2.6.27
Hi Guys,
fist off ill apologize for being a complete noob and quite possibly missing an obvious answer but hey im a noob its what we do lol,
so my problem is, after switching to ubuntu from various editions of windows im finding a few problems with video playback specifically HD video playback( the video hangs often and for annoyingly short periods of time which make videos pretty unwatchable). i didn't have these problems in windows and while im aware that linux drivers are pretty much community maintained i just wondered if any of you pro's on here had tips or tricks or even work arounds that might increase the performance of my video card...........
My System Details:
Acer Aspire 5920(not the G version i was a cheap skate)
Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 @ 1.86Ghz
3 Gb DDR2 Ram
Intel GM965 Video Card
Broadcom Wireless Adapter(a swap out thats better than the bog standard)
Western Digital 250GB HDD
and Ubuntu 8.10 Ibex with 2.6.27-11 Kernal
again i apologise if this has an obvious answer, i have searched around on google but to no avail(well not that i could see).
Thanks in advance
Steve
