Trying to get SmileCHow do I add other /dev/video devices? I have only video0.

I bought recently a SmileCam (chipset OV511+) and have been trying to get it work under Ubuntu 5.10 for a day or so. My problem is, that when I try get a program to autoconfigure it-- like camserv, camstream, v4l-conf-- it says that /dev/video0 Device or resource busy. I don't have a /dev/v4l/ directory, and yes, I didn't install all the require v4l installed, bttv and 0v511 module working under Ubuntu. How would I go about getting another device like video1 installed? Thanks in advance!

PS: This web cam is USB.
