Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Trying to get my tablet to work

I got this Medion tablet, which is basically the same as this Trust device, called a Trust 1200 Wireless Tablet.

I already tried to fiddle some with the settings in the kernel where USB tablets are concerned, but that wasn't really fruitful. Linux recognizes _some_ device, but it doesn't actually do what it should (e.g. my mousepointer shoots in every random direction when I touch the tablet, instead of following the movement of my pen).

Has anyone succesfully configured and used this or a similar device?

Never used a tablet against Linux - but it is reacting as if it were trying to interpret the wrong Mouse protocol.

For instance if I hook up a Logitech 3 button to a Linux box that is expecting a Microsoft IntelliPoint mouse - the same "jumping" mouse behavior would occur.

Okay, I'm kicking this thread, because I have the answer (well, ish, at least) and some other person might use this information.

The Trust 1200 tablet I own (well, I own a Medion actually, which I found to be a clone of the Trust device) is a clone of the Aiptek 12000U. The Medion thus is either a clone of a clone or just a clone :P

Linux kernels 2.4 and 2.5 (and therefore 2.6 later this year) have built in support for this tablet. Some guy at sourceforge made a driver for XFree 4.2.1 for it and submitted the driver to XFree. I have contacted both the XFree devvers and the author of the driver, and it is supposed to be included in an upcoming release of X.

And when that's done, the tablets will work. Nice
