Trying to boot SLAX from usb: cannot find IMG files.

Hi im trying to get SLAX to boot off my usb drive. It starts to load up but then i get this message:

Error
cannot find your compressed IMG files! Maybe you are trying to start the live cd from unsupported CDROM drive. (scsi?) Or you entered wrong livecd_subdir= parameter? Or you entered wrong fromhd= parameter?

I think what is going on is that it is looking for the kernel in the cdrom drive. My question is then how can i make SLAX look for it on the usb drive (check and everything is there) and then how i'd set it up to look for the img on the usb automatically. In case it makes a difference here is how i installed SLAX

1. booted SLAX from cd
2. cd to /boot
3. did ./create_bootdisk.sh . /dev/sda1 /dev/sda SLAX

thanks for any help i appreciate it.

well i read some of the site and it says while the splash logo is on you can type in the "cheat codes" at a boot: prompt. However i see no boot prompt while the splash image is up. The site also says you can hit F1 at that time to get to a help menu but that does not work either. im using slax 4.2.0. I appreciate any help anyone can offer. thank you.

after i get that message it drops me into a shell and i have limited commands in /bin/. I noticed that fstab is empty. Could i possibly edit that to mount / from /dev/sda or is that not possible with livecds because everything is compressed?
