trying to add another HDD to ubuntu server using LVM

I added the drive as a physical vol to the vol group and mounted to my /media dir
then i extended my logical vol mounted on /media to greater than the capacity of my first HDD
but then i created a partiion or a file system on my second drive. i can't remember. it gave me an error and told me to reboot. now /media wont mount when i bootup and the sdb harddrive is missiong from physical volumes.
all my movies are probably gone!
i try to shrink my media lv back to the size before i added the 2nd HDD but it says i'll have to recreate the filesystem and it will erase everything.
dude! i screwed up
oh, i put a new partions on the sdb drive and try to add it to physical volumes it gives em this error
Failed to save physical volume :
Couldn't find device with uuid Cu5Wjr-0cAE-LDQU-U5GX-YbxN-rlv7-TzlxHk.
Cannot change VG Server while PVs are missing.
Consider vgreduce --removemissing.
and when i boot it says there is 1 zombie process

At least now you know the reason for making backups before doing anything system-critical, like partitioning.

Before doing anything further I would recommend to use Photorec to recover and backup your media files to an external medium.
After that just re-create all your physical/logical volumes.

yes, lesson learned...
i can't backup my media cux it's on the lv that wont mount
i;ve tried mounting it manualy
didn't work
testdisk says there partition doesn't have a close or end point
probably coz i extended it to the next disk then screwed up that disk
so how do i close the partition?

i gave up
i lost my movies but whatever. there were only a handful i would watch again
