Trouble woth my webcam
Hi everybody! Im having trouble with my Genius webcam. Its model is VideoCAM Look.
Im new at linux,Im using Mandrake 2005 limited edition and the problem is that when I connect my web camera , it turns on the activity light but thats all, any program cant recognize it.
In fact, also my printer does not work, so I think that my problem is with the USB driver or sometthing related
When I use the command lsusb, the information that I got is
[root@localhost erick]# lsusb
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 04a9:1098 Canon, Inc.
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0c45:60b0 Microdia
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Notice that Canon is the printer and Microdia is the camera.
Someone told me that I could download a patch for my kernell to be updated, so thats what I did.
I downloaded the patch-2.2.16 , so I tried to install in order to replace my kernell version (2.6.11-6mdk) but Im not sure if it is goig to work.
I copied the patch to this directory: /usr/src/linux
and them I typed: patch -p1 < patch-2.2.16.
Thats all. I dont know how to proceed or to continue with this.
I will appreciate any advice!
Thanks!
