trouble with usb support - Redhat

hi all,

I have this HP Pavilion dv1000 series laptop.
I loaded RHEL 4.0 on it. But the USB devices have not
been recognized. I can't use the usb mouse or any pen drive etc.
lsusb command shows nothing. lspci lists out a lot of things and says somethings about the usb host controller make and model etc.
But nothing looks like an error.
What can I do to fix the problem.

Make sure your USB devices are disconnected properly. Open up a console and 'tail -f /var/log/messages'. If there's any other services writing too much lines into the log disable them temporarily. Now attach an USB device, say a mouse. What lines show? Post them here in BB code tags.
