Trouble using laptop with projector

I am teaching a class in which I would like to use my laptop. Last week when I tried to use it with the projector in the classroom, I got a "no input" message from the projector. I am running Fedora Core 2, and under display settings, I chose "dual head" and set the second monitor to a generic display.

When I rebooted into Windows, it worked fine with no changing any settings, so it's not a hardware problem.

Any ideas?

I've got the same problem ...

Did you by chance figure out the solution?

For me, it seemed to be a problem with my video card driver. I switched to using generic VESA graphics, and it worked perfectly.
