Trouble mounting drive rw

Hello all- I'm having a silly difficulty with mounting a file system. Probably an easy question to answer. :-)

I have a vfat drive (my system dual-boots) located at /dev/hdb1
In my /etc/fstab, I have the following relevant line:
/dev/hdb1 /mnt/hdb1 vfat rw,user,noauto 0 0

So as a user (or root), I can easily run mount /mnt/hdb1 and viola, it's mounted!

But it mounts with the following permissions: drwxr--r--

and no action I can take as root or user can seem to change them.

I would like the permissions set to drwxrwxrwx on the mounted drive.

Thank you for any help!

change your fstab line to this:

/dev/hdb1 /mnt/hdb1 vfat rw,user,noauto,umask=000 0 0

Thank you so much, it worked like a charm... for my edification, is this discussed in the man file for mount, and I just missed it? Otherwise, what would be a good reference for information such as this?

It is in the mount manpage, but you have to go down quite a way to the options specific to FAT systems.
