Unhappy trouble with a DWL-650

Has anyone out there successfully installed and activated/used a DWL-650 v.p1 on fedora core2 kernel 2.6.5-1.358. i have tried the ndiswrapper, nada, or at least nothing so far. a tried the linux-wlan-ng drivers and i get stuck at the make all with many errors concerning NG_VECTORS or something. i am not a linux buff, i wont even pretend, but i want to learn and increase my understanding. i am to the point of chucking my card for a new one. if anyone thinks this is a good idea, or at least would like to talk about why D-Link loves the moniker 650 but not one single chipset. Thank you anyone who will take the time to help this lost soul. i appreciate any advice or comments.

So what chipset does your card use then? Start from there. (If you already haven't...)

But, if you really don't feel up to the effort of getting it working, the Cisco Aironet 350 has been pretty painless to get working, as its driver is part of the kernel... Just gotta downgrade the firmware and you're set...

this card has a prism II chipset i think. you cant get much out of D-Link on this one. looking around though got me as far as to say that it is a variant of the prism architecture. that is the main reason i attempted linux_wlan_ng because of its coverage of the entire prism line.

my room-mate is using a motorola he bought from Wal-mart and it works fine. though i would like to use a card that i already bought, its looking more and more like i should swap out.

To find out exactly what chipset, you can use the FCCID database lookup, and general get pictures from there of the inside of your card, revealing to you what chipset it's is. That's how I got the chipset of my 3CRSHPW796.
