Trouble getting printer to work wireless from Laptop

I have a laptop where I'm using Xubuntu 4.12. I have a wireless connection to my Brother printer that has functioned well without complications. Recently, my laptop is not recognizing the printer (and vice versa). I get a flag in the upper right-hand corner of my laptop screen that says "Printer may be disconnected?" What do I need to do to restore my ability to print wirelessly from my laptop? (I tried calling my printer's customer-no-service line and they told me that the company does not support Linux. That's bogus! They just don't provide *phone* support.) Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!
