Trouble getting Linux running on schools Dells
ok, im trying to run a live linux cd on the computers here at my school. currently, I have tried Knoppix,, DSL, SuSE 9, Berry, and LLGP distros and all of them have been unable to load fully, on Knopix, DSL, suse, and LLGP it would show all the loading screens and hardware recognition and then when it seemed to be going to load, the lcd goes blank, and in standby, you can still hear the cd loading and everything its just like the video went out, now with the Berry Linux, it was stuck autoconfiguring the hardware
any ideas on why it wouldnt be working? distros to try would be nice too |

live distros
I would concur about the LCD configuration, but it doesn't seem likely that ALL the distros are fudging this.
Is this happening on several different Dell PCs or just one? If it's just one Dell PC then it's possible the optical drive is bad. Your post indicates several distros so it's not likely it's the discs unless they were all burned on a bad burner. Try disableing any antivirus in the BIOS. good luck |
all the pcs do it, i will check on the antiviruses in the bios...i just dont know what else to try, it seems odd that it doesnt work with any of them

what kind of monitors are the computers using?

its a dell 15" lcd, i can get the model number later when im there
|
ok, they are Model : 1504FP
if that helps any |
i was unable to find any security or antivirus features turned on within the bioses
