Question Trouble burning DVD with Lite-on LDW-401S

Hello

I have got some problems with my lite-on LDW-401S... it goes like this:

I got my LDW-401S and before i burned anything i updated the firmware with a file from liteonit.com and it worked fine.
Then i burned some crap on the DVD+RW (packaged with the burner) with Nero and went fine ... no problemo.
But then i wanted to see if I could burn DVD+RW in linux, but it didn't succeed. This message shows when i try to blank the disk with cdrecord/dvdrecord:
root@sweety:~# dvdrecord -blank=all -dev=0,0,0
dvdrtools v0.1.4

I've tryed different parameters and tryed burning an iso-file.
I've both tryed with a 2.4.21 kernel and a 2.4.22 and the message is the same...
I have no trouble burning CD-RW in linux with the same burner.
I've tryed all kinds of stuff, but nothing seems to work. I would really appreciate some help with this one

Greetings from Rune 'fusty' Hansen

wow I haven't had a problem like that. I'm currently using cdrecord-ProDVD with xcdroast on Slackware 9.1 without a hitch. If you're interested in my config for cdrecord-ProDVD well here it is.

I downloaded the latest binary of cdrecord-ProDVD and placed it as:
/usr/bin/cdrecord-ProDVD

After that I downloaded the cdrecord-wrapper.sh and placed it as:
/usr/bin/cdrecord

For some reason even though the LiteON is setup for scsi emulation X-CD-Roast detects it as an ATAPI device , but just to be safe follow the config instructions here.

My first successful burn was with the generic SCSI-3/mmc-3 DVD+R driver, I haven't tried the check media option unfortunately since I only have the single DVD+R that came in the retail box.

Under advanced options, I have both "Allow overburning" and "Ignore medium size" selected. You may want to try your own configuration out as well.

Thats my experience with this LiteON model. Good Luck!
