TRIM on SSD in Linux
I have a Vista PC I'm thinking of moving to a solid-state drive.
Now, I know that Vista doesn't natively support TRIM, so considering that the SSD (a current Crucial model) is about 25GB bigger than the HDD it's replacing, I'm weighing the idea of using the extra space to create a partition for Linux to double-boot so that I can do TRIM on the SSD.
So here's the question: if Linux (Kubuntu) is installed on that SSD, and TRIM is run on it from the Linux partition, will TRIM perform maintenance on the entire drive, or only on the Linux partition?
Thanks in advance.
