treble & base controls in linux

Hello gnusers!

I was wondering if any of you have dabbled with audio drivers in linux more specificaly with the SB Live! series of soundcards. You know how in windows you can set the treble and base percentage under the 'advanced controls' option in the mixer, I was wondering if you could do that in linux also. I've played with all the sliders in the KDE and gnome mixer and none of them seem to affect these parameters. Can you modify that at all in linux?

Depends on whether your driver modules allows for that. I can't remember whether the OSS emu10k1 modules allows that or not. If you like you can get ALSA. They're the next wave of sound drivers and will soon be standard. They're available at as are the instructions.

From your link:

Tone Controls:
To enable bass and treble tone controls, the 'Tone' switch must be turned on.
This can be achieved with the following command:
'amixer sset Tone on'

or "unmute" (m key) the "Tone channel" in alsamixer.
Use alsactl to save and restore this and any other settings automatically.

Thank you!
