Travan tape streamer problem
Hehe, ok going on from my previous thread (can anyone help with my ati card and GATOS?) here's the trouble I'm having with my travan tape streamer.
I can do a "modprobe ide-tape" and then do "mt -f /dev/ht0 retension" and that worked :) the tape rewound and did whatever it needed to do. But if I use tar, nothing happens. I tried this to put something onto the tape: tar -cvf /dev/ht0 test.jpg The result was: test.jpg tar: /dev/ht0: Wrote only 0 of 10240 bytes tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now The tape dosen't seem to take any notice of commands from tar, only from "mt" ! Any ideas :) Thanks! SP |
Also tried the programs that come with mandrake and tried starting the system with a tape in but it still didn't work. Even specifying /dev/ht0 in one of mandrake's backup programs (kDat) doesn't work at all :(.
