Trackman Marble middle scroll button won't work

I have a logitech trackman Marble. It has a large trackball for your thumb on the left, and three buttons for your fingers. The left button is for regular and double clicking. The rightmost button is for right clicking and context menus. The center button doesn't seem to work under Ubuntu 10.10. It works as a "scroll" button in windows. You push it down and you get a control on your screen. If you move the control up, down, right or left, the screen moves appropriately up, down, right or left. I've tried to find a mouse configuration file, but have failed.

Can someone out there give me a clue as to how to do this under Ubuntu 10.10? Thanks in advance.

Logitech Trackman Marble model T-CH11.
