Tough question: Compaq 1205EA: get ACPI to work on Mandrake
Hey,
The guy in the IT support in my university didn't really know how to resolve the problem, so I think that this one is a toughie I can't get my powermeter working on mandrake10 neither with APM nor ACPI I found this HOWTO http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ticle&artid=43 It's about Mandrake and Compaq Presario Notebook Posted by: PCLinux on 09-01-2003. (434 views) FEATURE: Recompiling the kernel for Compaq Presario 7xx Notebooks ACPI solution Posted on Monday, September 1st @ 12:04 by PCLinux (Netherlands) This seems to be like the HOWTO that I need, but: My notebook is Compaq Presario 1205 EA, not 7xx Do you think I should still follow the steps outlined in the HOWTO? If so: 1. Do I need to install ACPI first (I have deleted it already) 2. What is a Mandrake cooker and how do I open it? 3. Should I install "kernel-source 2.6.3-4mdk" or "2.4.25-2mdk" - - both of them are available on my installation CDs The rest of the HOWTO seemed alright. :) Please forgive my ignorance and have patience in writing out everything I need to do. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Grisha. |
Wow!
I think I found an answer for at least one of my questions. my kernel version is 2.6.3-4mdk therefore, if I am to install a kernel-source package then it will be the "2.6.3-4mdk" one! How cool is that? |
