Totally bugged up on installing Epson Printer

Hi, I actually have 2 problem. I installed Mandrake 9.1, when I did that, the printer weas not attached, now I connected the printer to the computer, it is an Epson Stylus Color 600. This is a new install, as I changed computer, prior to that, I had Mandrake 9.0 and with some help from the forum I installed that printer with not too much pain.

Now, when I go into Config/Control Panel Mandrake and on printer, it gives me a message that there is an unknown printer attached to the computer. I have been trying to fogure out how to install this printer. I am new to Linux and I do not know the console commands that one uses to install a printer. I am using Konqueror.

I saw the button for installing a network printer and I wanted to do that, and on the insert CD prompt I am faced with Impossible to Enter Folder /Dev/CDROM

I serached on this forum for some previous messages on that, it did not solve my situation. By the way, is there a good Linux handbook someone could suggest me?

Anyhow, I have a CDROM icon on my desktop, but no matter how I go about this I cannot enter the CDROM.

In the console, as the SU, I tried mount /mnt/cdrom but no joy there. I went into the control panel and clicked on mounting point and choose CDROM. In the FSTAB file I have:

/dev/sda1 / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/sda6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
none /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/hda,fs=auto,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=auto,--,iocharset=iso8859-15,sync,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/sda5 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/sdb3 swap swap defaults 0 0

But I still am unable to get into the CDROM, I always get the same message

I tried other CDs just in case, I know this drive is fonctional as I used it on other systems.

So, totally bugged up

A bit of an update. I rebooted after using the cdrom mount tool in config panel and this solved my CDROM issue.

Now, I went back to the printer config tool and it does as if it install my printer, it detects the right tyope of printer, but it fails at installing it.

I tried several times and it is not able to install it.

Any clues on that?
