Toshiba Satellite Pro hanging at beginning of install...

For the last hour the blue screen has been saying "Enabling PCMCIA extension cards..."

There are also the supposed options of "<Alt-F1> for here, <Alt-F3> to see the logs, <Alt-F4> for kernel msg" but the computer doesn't respond to these key combinations.

When I tried to install via the text option, it bounced me to the same screen as the default. (This is a mandrake 10.1 dvd, BTW).

Has anyone encountered similar problems?

thanks in advance,
doug

Did you try typing linux nopcmcia at the boot: prompt? This might make the install go easier, then you can let it try to autodetect pcmcia on the reboot...

Well, I just tried that now and the sequence appears to be unaffected, ie. still hanging at "Enabling PCMCIA extension cards..."
