To shoot my computer or not, that is the question.
 
For the life of me I cannot get my graphics cards working. I have followed the directions supplied to the letter and searched for hours to diagnose and fix any problems.

The readme for the SuSE specific files can be found here:

ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128 MB PCI

After checking lsmod I've found both fglrx and agpgart are loaded. glxgears, however, gives me a pitiful 150 FPS.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I know your pain, Mr.
Did you try the config option from XFree86? Entering

XFree86 -configure
. It will create a file "/root/XF86Config.new" based on the tests with all drivers. After this you run it with [code]XFree86 -xf86config /root/XF86Config.new". I suffered tring to tweak the standard configuration method and I didn't yet 640x480. After discover this option, it configured my system to 1152x768.

Hi Titan2k,
Google is your friend! Googling the text of your lspci, in the vga line, I found a Brazilian forum where somebody points to www.ati.com. There, under download->linux->graphic you have the 9200 series. Best of all, there is an script to identify the right driver for your board.

I hope this is the answer.

Do you have any very cpu intencive tasks runing, I run a distributed.net client and with it runing I get 97.600 FPS w/o it I get 2008.000 FPS. This is a Nvidia FX5600XT 128MB. As I have no knowledge for ATI other than they should be avoided when posible. Hope this helps

osvaldomarques, I've been googling this problem for countless hours. The FIRST thing I did was determine which file was the correct one. Apparently it was not obvious from my post so I'll try to make sure in any more posts the rediculous number of hours I've traveled google for this problem.

Joey.Dale, I don't think I have anything CPU intensive running since I haven't installed much more than the base installation. There was no performance change vs when the drivers that came with SuSE were in use.

How might I determine for sure SELinux is the problem?

The whole problem is that AMD Processor, go ahead and pull the heatsink off and let her smoke. If it happens to keep running (which it wont) then take a 12 gauge with buck shot to it. Sorry could not resist.

osvaldomarques, that script determines which driver file you need by checking for the correct versions of glibc and XFree86. I looked up which version of each which was installed on my computer. I went through this check list:

I have, as many linux gurus like to suggest, RTFMs.

I know I have the correct version. Please read all the posts (look two posts above this one for repeat info). Sorry for the very annoyed post, but I'm so very tired of working with this problem and having to reply to the simplest of questions.
