Tips on increasing glxgears output

Hi
-my video card is an nVidia GeForce FX5700 Ultra. I am using the nvidia 6111 drivers, and i have enabled render accelleration in my Xorg config file. While my framerate is nothing to complain about (average aroung 6000fps), i'd like to know how i can go about increasing it. Are there some options i can add to my config or anyhting special to make it run faster WITHOUT overclocking it? I ask because i've seen MUCH higher framerates from older cards. My friend has one of the Ti4000 (i think that's what its called) that gets upwards of 15,000FPS on glxgears.

If it matters, my resolution is 1280x1024, and due to my older monitor, refresh rate is 60Hz.

All advice welcome.
Just want to make sure i have all the correct "tweaks" running to get the best possible performance out of my card.

Thanks,
-myk

It's probably because some people minimize the window with the gears spinning, or have the window behind another window. If I keep the gears in view, I get 3300 fps, If I hide the window I get 15,800 fps

with that said, looks like i'm in good shape. I get a little over 100fps in Unreal Tournament 2004 with graphic options maxed out running at 1280x1024... so i guess i can't complain.

Thanks,
-myk
