My Thomson (Alcatel) Speedtouch 300 ADSL modem is doing my head in. I have followed - and cross referenced - the instructions on both the following pages.

When finished - nothing! Reboot - Nothing!

The thing I can't understand is that when I go into YaST to setup the DSL it has Other (Not detected) as the only DSL device. So it can't even see my modem. Would this be correct?

Any ideas where I go from here? I really don't want to have to get a router to get out on the web with Linux when the modem works great with Windows but it's a hassle having to swap from one OS to the other just so I can get my next bit of info when stuck.

It's another tutorial, but it worked for me. It's for RedHat, but I see no reason that it shouldn't work for any distro.
