Thinkpad T450s vs Thinkpad T480s
I been wanting a backlit keyboard now for a while. And while I was searching for information on Thinkpads I found this [link below] and I was wondering if this issue is fixed in the kernel as yet?

This explains what the problem is: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo....435549.0.html
As you can see, this is not a problem in the Linux kernel but the Lenovo firmware relying on specific Windows software. They were promising to fix it, but that would be in new models.

Well I did not catch on it was a firmware issue. Kind of sad that Lenovo only wanted to fix this in only new models. I set my sights on the T450s. Mainly due to the backlit keyboard. after a bit more research I discovered the t450s has duel batteries not sure how Linux Mint will detect them. Though lower watt CPU is nice. I am still in the searching phase on ebay. I know about the track print and the trackpad issue. I did read a bugs report on that. I use External mouse for laptops. Never really liked the mousepad or the track point.

I think that has been a standard feature for a long time now. I have a 6 year old thinkpad and it has a backlit keyboard.

Been looking on ebay for T450s but I am getting disappointed. most of what I see does not include a power supply. Not having a battery fine easy fix. I live in the US and the company I use to buy from which was in main and was fantastic disappeared right in the middle of the pandemic. I can not find a good company to buy from these days.

I have a t420 and a t520 both have the think light. I am now looking at the t460s model which seems to have the same keyboard type as the t450s.
