Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

ThinkPad T40 built in wireless

i'm not sure if this is appropriate for hardware or networking...so...i just put it here

i have a brand new IBM ThinkPad T40 with the "dual band a/b wireless card" (that is all it says in the system). i like to run live-eval versions of Linux security distros...like Knoppix and PHLAK...however...these distros won't pick up the wireless card...they only pick up my gigabit ethernet....

in windows when i do a device manager...and properties of the wireless card...i get this

Dual-band Wi-Fi Wireless Mini PCI Adapter
Manufacturer: PHILLIPS COMPONENTS
Location: PCI Slot 1
and as we speak i am using a PHILLIPS driver...
is there anyway that anyone knows of to probe this card and get it to work wireless-ly....or am i just going to need to get a PCMCIA card and work with that...???

thanks,
daemon

ok...i guess an update....
i have found "beta" drivers do exist for my card....it is actually a Philips/Atheros chipset that isn't supported yet by linux. i have tried to find some drivers...however...i am being led around in circles...
does anyone know where these drivers are located...?
