Thinking about upgrading my machine

Hello!

I'm thinking about upgrading my machine to the following specifications:

Motherboard: ASROCK 775 Dual-880 Pro
Processor: Intel PentiumD 2.66Mhz DualCore 775 2Mb box

What to you think about it? Does this specifications work with linux? Will it be much faster than this :

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
ASUS A8V Deluxe | 1x512MB DDR 400Mhz Kingston
LCD LG Flatron L1520B | GeForce 2 MX400V 64MB
1xSeagate 40Gb IDE 7200 | 1x Seagate 120Gb SATA
Cambridge SoundWorks Four Point Surround 1000

Best regards,

this too is good enough.
and the noticable difference in speed of machine can be observered if you run specific applications.
power of processor can be tested if you execute some heavy computational task. e.g run some password cracker on your machine
normal internet browsing and playing songs, movies etc won't reflect noticable difference.

mine is
600 MHz PIII process
815 motherboard
256Mb of memory

regards
