The clock is running too fast

Hi folks,

AMD CUP

The clock on KDE desktop is running on double speed compelling me to adjust it periodically. Kindly advise how to fix this problem.

TIA

switch your bios to daylight savings time or get an atomic clock chip.

Linux UI uses your bios time.
Have you done checks to see, when your Linux UI is ahead/behind time
have you tried veiwing the time in your bios to see if it is also ahed.

may be a bios manufacturer problem.

Is it just KDE that's the problem? Try running "date" a couple of times and see what you get. It's just a thought but do you have RTC compiled into your kernel?

Try running another DE if you canthat uses a clock and see if it does the same thing. Fluxbox is small if you don't have another one to try and don't want to spend a lot of time installing one.

Hi folks,

Thanks for your response and advice.

Problem has been solved as follow;

Adding following line to /etc/sysctl.conf

kern.timecounter.hardware=i8254

Up to now the system clock has been running correctly more than 16 hrs.
