Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Test for Artifacts

Hello, I'm having some weird behaviour in the UI. I experienced a weird graphical glitch in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and now in Elementary I'm seeing like artifacts when showing all applications.
How can I thorougly test for artifacts in my system ? In a month my 3 year guarantee is going to run out, so I want to be very thorough with my tests before that happens.

Thanks. I tried for a few hours and it seemed to work fine. Is there any other program ? I remember when using Windows years ago there were programs that would start showing artifacts within seconds if there are problems in the hardware.

that is, you're assuming these artefacts are hardware related.

then you were either incredibly un/lucky that the hardware problem was right at the beginning of the search, or the windows program kinda cheated on you. many freeware progs will do that.
