Terratec Pre-Amp Studio USB
My first post to LQ, but I have used Linux for some time now, formerly SuSE, now Gentoo.
Has any member successfully configured the Terratec Pre-Amp Studio USB to work with Linux? It is a device to convert vinyl or tape recordings to digital form, essentially a specialized sound card.
I am using a Toshiba laptop, Pentium III 650 MHz, 315 Mb ram, internal sound card ESS 1978S. Gentoo, Kernel 2.6.13, with alsa usb support as a kernel module.
dmesg gives:
usbcore: registered new driver snd-usb-audio
usb 1-2.2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-2.2: config 1 interface 1 has no altsetting 1
lsusb gives
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0ccd:3556 TerraTec Electronic GmbH
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 058f:9254 Alcor Micro Corp. Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
But no sound comes through and the device is not recognized by Audacity. Neither does alsaconf find it.
Am I missing something simple, or is it an unsupported device? I thought alsa was supposed to work well with external USB cards.
