Does anyone else see Fedora running hotter than Ubuntu? I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 (obviously pre-release at this point) and Fedora 20 with their current (12-Apr) 64-bit kernels, and I see:
Code:
Ubuntu 1404
~$ sensors
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +47.0°C (crit = +106.0°C)
temp2: +29.8°C (crit = +106.0°C)
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Physical id 0: +50.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Core 0: +50.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Core 1: +44.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
=======================================================================
Fedora 20
~$ sensors
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +63.0°C (crit = +106.0°C)
temp2: +29.8°C (crit = +106.0°C)
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Physical id 0: +64.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Core 0: +64.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Core 1: +60.0°C (high = +87.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Would like to bring the Fedora temps down, but don't know how to change the cpu frequency governor in F20. F20 runs at 2.5GHz constantly vs. 1.0GHz for Ubuntu when (more or less) idling.
Advice greatly appreciated.
