Question tape mounting error -HELP


I try to mount my newly installed HP Tape device and get this error. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks allot

mount /dev/qft0 /mnt/ftap

mount: /dev/qft0 is not a block device

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
