System hangs on boot after adding SATA drive
Using Slackware 9.0 I installed a new D865PERL motherboard and a Seagate 160GB SATA drive and a Radeon 9200 vid card. BIG problems! I had to use standard VESA config for the video. I can fix that eventually, but the machine wouldn't boot with the SATA drive installed. Got the sata.i image from Slackware and booted from a floppy disk, but now ethernet module doesn't work even though it's the same device. I downloaded and compiled the 2.6 kernel and it starts booting and recognizes SATA support at one point, but then hangs at "hde" which is the SATA drive and all it says is that it sees it as an ide drive. Any ideas? How about a way to add the sata.i vmlinuz image from the floppy to my regular startup?
