system doens'nt recognize /dev/lp0
I have Red Hat 9 dual booted with Win 98.
I just bought and installed an Epson C82 printer and installed it on the parallel port. After the initial installation something went wrong on the Win98 installation. (I installed updated drivers from the Epson website but they seemed to install on USB.) I ended up having to delete the device LPT1 and re-installing that, then re-installing the printer again.
Works fine.
It also worked on the Linux until I ran into the Win98 problem.
I think I may have to do something similar in RH9. Since the Win98 problems it doesn't recognize the printer or /dev/lp0 when I attempt to re-install.
Any suggestion. Nice printer, and I would like to use it on Linux. It has nice Linux drivers but there seems to be a problem with the port.
