System BIOS

I am looking for some information on configuring fundamental system hardware by making the correct settings in the system BIOS. I need something, in the form of a Web site or book reference, that will explain to me BIOS configuration issues using LBA on IDE hard disks larger than 1024 cylinders and enabling or disabling integrated peripherals.

Also, if anyone knows of a URL that has practice questions for the lpi (Linux Professional Institute) certification exams, I would be much appreciative.

Don't forget to check http://www.rojakpot.com/ out. They have a very good guide to a LOT of different settings you may find in the BIOS setup...

maybe they are floppy disk install images with
an executable extractor. are they all just barely bigger
than a floppy? you'll probably have to do it on a windows
machine. you should need a new bios to boot cdrom a
cdrom though. those are just settings in the bios, you
don't need a new bios for that.
i think with a compaq you hit f10 when the that little
cursor appears in the upperright, to enter setup
