Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Sync'ing Cell Phones

I currently have a motorola v400 GSM phone on Cingular and was looking to replace it and my palm pilot. Motorola phone sync software isn't supported in linux nor will it work in WINE. The palm is mainly used for it's recurring calendar function and text notes. Since the new treo 680 is out I could just as well buy that but it might be overkill.

Symbian OS phones (at least the s60 nokia stuff) seem to be supported in linux along with some kind of PIM sync stuff.

Mainly curious what phones the linux community have had luck using on a linux platform. Hopefully something that can at the very least sync calendar and text notes. Looking for something that is GSM, preferrably with the 850mhz band.

BTW I run FC5..

*BUMP* Blame it on the search function.

My Windows machine has started acting strangely, troubleshooting has lead to a .5Gig malware program that was installed, it is known but so far not removable. As with all Windows problems this is easily solved with three simple steps: FDISK, FORMAT and INSTALL. As a permenant solution, I am installing Slackware 12. :ROA: (Round of Applause)

And now for my problem: I have a Cingular 8125, that pretty much does everything I need. PDA, Calendar, Phone, plays music, etc. However from what I can tell it does not interface with Linux very well. I am eligible for a phone upgrade. I am happy with Cingular, now AT&T and have no problem with staying with them. I also have several friends that are happy with Verizon.

Are there any cell phones that will interface with Linux and sync up with Linux based software?
