Switched from ATI to NVidia - now no X?

I was having some trouble with an ATI card, so I replaced it with an NVidia card. I uninstalled the ATI drivers with "rpm -e flgrx", verified that X no longer worked, switched the cards, installed the nvidia drivers, corrected my XF86Config-4 with the correct config, and now when I try to startx, I get messages like the following:

Symbol foo referenced from module /usr/X11R6/.../nvidia_drv.o is unresolved!

I'm stumped. Where do I go from here?

do modprobe nvidia, and see if the driver loads

if it does, try startx again

if the driver does not load, it was miscompiled/misinstalled

what driver version are you using? since it has a .o ending, i'm assuming kernel 2.4.x, and i recommend you use the 4496 drivers, not the latest 5336

also, check dmesg output

*edit: just noticed; you are trying to load nvidia_drv; all you need is "nvidia"

Thanks for the reply... turns out the problem we were experiencing was not related to the graphics card (it continued after we switched the cards before we got X running) so we put the ATI back in.
