I am trying to insall SUSE linux 9.1 on it but it hangs up in the beginning of installation. On pressing F2 i see the following messages:
Number of messages before that ....................
.....................
>>> SUSE Linux installation prgram v1.6.19 (c) 1996-2004 SUSE LINUX AG <<<
Starting hardware detection....
Activating usb devices... done
Searching for infofile...
Loading data into ramdisk (53300 kB)...
It hangs up after this. I have installed it on number of sysems with older hardware like 2.4 GHZ intel without HT and SATA.
There was a problem with Hard disk detection also when using SATA but i took care of it by chaning to Legacy option in Drive configuratino of BIOS and now the hard drive is visible.
I am at loss at this thing and want to know how to install suse 9.1 on my new hardware.
During the installation, you should have the option of loading additional kernel modules prior to kicking off the process. (If you have ever done a network install of Suse, you may have had to load a particular module to support your NIC, etc) I don't know specifically if or which module you might need, but I'll mention this just as a possible thing to check. Good luck with it -- J.W.
