I have a VT8233/8235/8237 AC97 which in YaST is reported as "Audio Controller", State: Running. The options listed are AC97_clock, AC97_quirk, DXS_support, joystick and mpu_port, which list blank value on the "Value" column of this options page. the first and last option s, list "not known" for possible values, but all other have ranges of values from -1 to 5 , etc. All other settings for volume (master, mono, etc) show some value over 50%, except, MIC, Phone, Line and Aux which are set to 0. Alsa daemon is running as well. When the computer was assembled I myself confirmed every connection to the the speaker and mic jacks as well as to the USB sockets, according to the motherboard manual. When I press Test Sound button, no sound is heard (speakers on and volume to 50%)
Output from lspci and lsusb

I'm null in troubleshooting sound on Linux. Could anyone give me a help? Thanks
Then I went to the Control Center, restarted the sound system, hwinfo --sound again, both drivers active still, test sound in control center, but no sound yet. No recording either. What else could we do? thanks!!.
If I run aplay (the alsa player) with an mp3, there are no frames running, as well with mpg123. It just sits there doing nothing, no errors, no prompt, nothing, until I ctrl-c the player. The option -l of aplay shows my sound hardware:
