After 2 years of succesfull services from SuSE 8.2, I decided to upgrate all my computers to SuSE 9.2, meaning 1 laptop (ACER Aspire 1302 to whom it maight concerns), a Desktop and my home Server/Firewall.

The upgrate was succesfull on the laptop(!), while I had a few problems with LILO (yes, I know that GRUB is better but I want to dual boot from times to times, so I need the lilo -r option) on my desktop.

The server, was just a dissaster. I knew that the upgrate (and the transition from 2.4 kernels to 2.6 kernel was a pain in the (&^(, but that kind of dissaster!

Here is brief description of the problemS:

a) YaST finds the 2 NIC (Realtek 8139), configures them, BUT
a.1 Each time I run the tool Firewall is activated (a bug?). I have to stop the firewall service manual.

You need to do a clean install when going from 2.4 to 2.6. Everything is different, including your device filesystem. Sorry, but the leap is too large if you aren't a guru with a week of spare time.
